Proposed development off Kedleston Rd - update 15    July 4, 2015

From Dr Paul Hodson, Chair, Quarndon Parish Council planning subcommittee 04.07.15

Amber Valley Special Planning Board meets on Monday evening at 7.00 pm in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Ripley. This meeting’s sole purpose is to consider the application to build 400 houses off Kedleston Road.

The good news is that the Planning Officers (Local Government’s professional planners) have recommended that the application be refused. It will, however, be the Amber Valley councillors, who make up the Planning Board, who will make any decision. Bear in mind that the Planning Board voted (against their officers’ advice) to include the Kedleston Road site in Amber Valley’s Revised Core Strategy, which is currently being examined by a Government Inspector. The Political balance of AVBC has, however, altered since that vote and I am hopeful that on this occasion the Board’s decision will reflect their Officers’ advice.

The Planning Board, on Monday, could vote to grant or refuse the application, or just possibly, to defer a decision until the Revised Core Strategy with its new Local Plan is in place.

I have a three minute ‘slot’ to speak to the councillors of the Planning Board at their meeting on Monday, and I will be objecting to this application on behalf of the Parish Council. I have been liaising with Kedleston Voice so that we coordinate our presentations to have the maximum possible impact as it is difficult to say very much in such a short time.

Watch this space.
